SWAP 2010
Singapore - Japan Exchange Programme
An Inter-school Education Programme on Wetland Conservation and Management

This year is the International Year of Biodiversity 2010. Designated by the United Nations General Assembly, it is to raise public awareness of the importance of biodiversity and consequences of its loss. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve joins in the celebrations by organising SWAP 2010. In this year's programme, students from 3 local schools, namely, Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary, Pei Cai Secondary and River Valley High School, get to interact and exchange information on their respective local wetlands with students from Mishima High School. As of Dec 2010, there was a total of 12 project works from these 4 schools and 1200 web viewing hits for their works.

Come 7 and 8 Dec, the local students will also have the opportunity to meet face to face with our visitors from Japan and show them our very own wetland reserve in Singapore. To commemorate this very special occasion, students from both countries have created their very own art impressions of their wetlands which will be pieced together on the day itself and framed up to celebrate this special year, programme and partnership.

SWAP 2008
Singapore- Hong Kong Exchange Programme
An Inter-school Education Programme on Wetland Conservation and Management

Through SWAP 2008, 3 local secondary schools are collaborating with 3 schools that are actively involved in our sister wetland site, Hong Kong Wetland Park (Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department) and Mai Po Nature Reserve in Hong Kong (World Wide Fund For Nature Hong Kong). Wetland conservation and management is being used as a study topic and the sister schools will make use of the web as a medium for exchange. The chosen team of students (4 students and 1 teacher) from each school will get to present their results and visit their partnering schools in Hong Kong Wetland Park for a site exchange programme in Nov 2008, as well as receive partnering schools from Hong Kong in February 2009.
